The project consists of the construction of a new 7,600 sf two-story makerspace building in an area that was devastated by the Almeda Fire. The new building will serve as a regional hub for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) learning for all of Southern Oregon with the building incorporating educational design features such as exposed utilities and mechanical systems, construction equations placed throughout the building to demonstrate real-world applications of math etc. Level 1 will consist of workshop space, including a woodshop, digital fabrication lab, ceramics studio, and fiber arts studio and Level 2 will consist of approximately 1,500 sf of open office space. The building will have an additional 1,200 sf of outdoor workshop space.
